Arslan Saleem Chaudhry joined the firm in 2015. As a Senior Associate, Arslan directly assists the Partners in a range of litigation matters before the High Courts and Supreme Court of Pakistan. His areas of practice includes arbitration, company, construction, corporate, commercial and constitutional litigation, and corporate advisory and transactions services. He regularly advices various MNCs in their day to day matters and regularly appears before the High Courts, District Courts and various regulatory bodies. Arslan combines his practice with academic activities and is a part of a visiting faculty at University of Management Technology where he gives lectures to the class of LLM.

  • He assisted the lead partner in representing and advising Packages Limited and Packages Construction (Private) Limited in its disputes with Walton Cantonment Board, Lahore, including filing petitions before the Lahore High Court on different issues such as demands for payment of extremely exaggerated regulatory fees of different kinds and an inflated demand for property tax.
  • He assists the lead partner in representing Sindh Revenue Board in an appeal before the Supreme Court of Pakistan against a judgement of the High Court of Sindh wherein it has been held that builders and developers, who, respectively, construct apartment buildings and develop housing schemes for sale of apartments and plots of land to allottees, do not provide any “services” and, as such, do not fall within the ambit of the Sindh Sales Tax on Services Act, 2011.
  • Co-counsel in representing Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan in the winding up of the Innovative Investment Bank Limited which was effected on account of the management’s fraud against the bank and the depositors and other creditors. This winding up is regarded by Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan as one of its most successful regulatory actions.
  • Co-counsel in representing Samsung EC Pakistan (Pvt.) Limited, Wateen Telecom Limited and Warid Telecom (Pvt.) Limited in constitutional petitions challenging, inter alia, the constitution of the Punjab Revenue Authority, application of the provincial sales tax, withholding tax on the services offered by the said entities.
  • Co-counsel in representing Data Steel Pipes Industries (Pvt.) Limited in defending a claim for damages of over Rs. 408 million filed against it for an alleged breach of obligations under the sales contract before a two-member arbitral tribunal. The two-member arbitral tribunal accepted an argument on mitigation and unanimously awarded a significantly reduced amount in damages. The matter is now pending before the Honourable High Court of Sindh at Karachi
  • Co-counsel in various cases for clients in the hotel industry, mobile phones industry in claims for infringement of trademarks before the Intellectual Property Tribunal, Lahore.
  • Lead counsel for one of the largest futures commodities brokers of Pakistan in defending it against Securities and Exchange Commission’s investigations regarding alleged offences of churning, fraud and manipulation.
  • Lead counsel in various cases pending before the High Courts, Civil Courts, and regulatory authorities and similar in the matters involving complex civil, commercial and recovery disputes.
